This large asymmetrical plaza unfortunately closes off Market Street, blocking its historic connection to the Embarcadero. The topping concrete blocks of Armand Vaillancourt's fountain dominate the space. In 2002, the Mid Embarcadero Plaza & Promenades, designed by ROMA Design Group, opened and include an arc of Canary Island Palms and two light towers.
