One of only five National Historic Landmark buildings in San Francisco, the Mint is ranked by the GSA as the second most important government building in the country for its historical and architectural significance. Once open to the public for the first time in its history, the Mint will house the San Francisco and Bay Area Museum, the San Francisco Visitors Information Center (to be moved from Hallidie Plaza) and the American Money Museum.
