Macondray Lane - Russian Hill

With its landscaping and small cottages, Macondrary Lane feels as if it should be private gardens, but it is actually a public right-of-way. This secluded lane is just one of the many unique pathway/stairways in Russian Hill and is the setting for Amistead Maupin's Tales of the City

How to Get there:
Start at Green and Leavenworth. On the east side of Leavenworth walk north toward the bay. Turn right in what looks like a parking lot just north of Green. The actual lane begins mid-block and continues across Jones until it descends by wooden stairway to Taylor Street.
