The rock band Jefferson Airplane (which, you'll recall, after making significant technological advances, redubbed itself the Jefferson Starship) bought this attractive mansion in 1968. Grace Slick painted the place black, and unlike most of the neighborhood other rockers, they continued to live here through the '70's.
